On Friday, the Abuja BookJam@Silverbird will round up its two-month celebration of the three finalists for the 2011 NLNG Nigeria Prize for Literature by hosting Cassava Republic's Ayodele Olofintuade, author of Eno's Story, as well as Mai Nasara (Adeleke Adeyemi), and Chinyere Obi-Obasi. Phillip Begho, shortlisted for the prize last month, will also make an appearance.

The event will take place at the Silverbird Galleria near Yar'Adua Center in Abuja on Friday, Sept. 30th by 6pm.

BookJam is a lively evening of readings, book signings, musical presentations, raffle draw and, of course, passionate discussions about life and literature. In addition, there will be a special Slam poetry performance by some of Abuja’s finest Slam champions.

This year's NLNG Prize is dedicated to children's literature, so bring the kids for a pre-Independence Day family night out. According to the prize judges, all the shortlisted books are stories ‘that stay with you long past the point at which you put them down’. Pick up a copy of Eno's Story at any of these Abuja locations (or buy one at the event) and read along.

Mai Nasara will be reading from his book The Missing Clock, while Chinyere Obi-Obasi will read from her nominated work The Great Fall and Philip Begho will present his Aunty Felicia Goes to School.

We hope to see you there!
