Cassava Republic Press is proud to announce that Lola Shoneyin's "The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives" has been longlisted for the Orange prize for fiction in the United Kingdom.
Ms. Shoneyin joins Sudanese writer Leila Aboulela and Aminatta Forna of Sierra Leone (who also won this year's Commonwealth Prize - Africa Region) as the only Africans on the list.
According to its website, the prize celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women's writing from throughout the world. The winner will get a cheque for £30,000 and a limited edition bronze known as a 'Bessie', created by the artist Grizel Niven.
