The Ake Arts & Book Festival is a brand new cultural event for Nigeria. The Ake Festival is the brainchild of Cassava Republic author Lola Shoneyin, author of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives. From 19-24 November this year, a smorgasbord of writers will hit Abeokuta, giving talks, signing books and offering master-classes. We're delighted that five Cassava Republic writers - Ayodele Olofintuade, Christie Watson, Doreen Baingana, Nnedi Okorafor and Teju Cole - will be in the house. The theme of the festival is "the shadow of memory". Click here to find out more about the festival.
