Lola Shoneyin joins big names at Garden City Festival

This year's edition of the Garden City Literary Festival will kick off in Port Harcourt from Monday, September 12th and run till Saturday, September 14th. And our very own Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives author, Lola Shoneyin will join a host of luminaries at what is fast becoming one of the nation's foremost literary festivals.

Chinua Achebe, widely known as the father of African literature, will deliver the keynote address (via video) at the opening ceremony on Wednesday 14th September. This year's featured speakers are Ghanaian feminist author Ama Atta Aidoo, and civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Other speakers include authors Ilyas Tunc, Lisa Combrinck, Ken Wiwa, Chimeka Garricks (author Tomorrow Died Yesterday), and Michael Peel (author A Swamp Full of Dollars).

The festival will feature two days of workshops on drama, poetry and general writing and a book fair featuring publishers and booksellers from all over the country. Guests can also take part in interactive sessions with authors and watch drama performances of some of the featured books.
