March 8th was the 100 year anniversary of International Women's Day and to celebrate, the African Women's Development Fund has named its 50 most inspiring African feminists.
The post includes a short description of why each person has been named and it is a truly heart-warming lineup. Feminism is often misunderstood and equated with male bashing, but these women are proof that its principles of gender equality are helping to save women's lives, and improve their access to education and economic capital.
And Cassava Republic wants to say a big congratulations to its publisher, Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, for being named on the list.
