Adaobi speaks out on the Nobel



In a  New York Times op-ed on Saturday, Dec. 11th, Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani explained why African literature is better off without another Nobel Prize - at least for now.

However, the piece touched off a debate about the importance of literature written in African languages. In particular a blog post by Hausa Literature scholar, Carmen McCain.

  • I agree with Nwaubani’s conclusion. But completely disagree with her justification. The beauty of Africa and the world at large, is it’s diversity. McCain was brilliant in her response.
