2010 Booker Shortlist Announced…

… and it includes one African writer! Damon Galgut’s novel In A Strange Room (read The Guardian‘s review here) is up for the £50,000 prize. The shortlist also has one writer of colour, Andrea Levy, whose Jamaica-set The Long Song is reviewed by The Telegraph here).

Tom McCarthy is down as the bookies’ favourite, but could Aussie Peter Carey make it a Booker hat-trick? You can find the full shortlist via the BBC here. The winner will be announced on October 12.
